Town Manager Joe Sheehan has finally been recognised for the job he has done so far with the Tractor Girls this season by being award the Manager Of The Month award for February by the National League.
It’s been a heck of a journey so far as the blues head down the final straight of the season but what Joe has done, results aside, has been just as important.
This season has seen an influx of youngsters inducted to a regular starting place in the first team. Players such as Lucy Egan, Paige Peake, Eloise King, Sophie Peskett, Anna Grey, Maddie Biggs and Abbie Lafayette to name a few, have all come through the u21 set up and still play for them in their midweek fixtures.
Joe has done a brilliant job bringing these youngsters through and into playing regular first team football. Paige Peake has proved to be an amazing set piece taker, especially free kicks and even scored straight from a corner also. Lucy Egan would be one of my tips for Player of the season this year after a string of brilliant performances from the no nonsense centre half. Eloise King has been on hot scoring form of recent, bagging a hat trick in the East Anglian Derby against Norwich last week and also Maddie Biggs who has caused opposition defenders headaches and also scored a hat trick against Huddersfield in the FA Cup to send town to a memorable tie at Manchester City.
Although fans would have liked to have seen it come sooner, it’s no surprise to see Joe pick up the award with town sitting top of the South East Division One with only 1 loss, the best defensive record and ready to take on any hurdles in the final stretch of the season.
Congratulations Joe, keep up the good work
